Morris Hospital honors employees for milestone years of service

Morris Hospital recently honored several employees for their milestone years of service at a dinner held on November 14 at Jennifer’s Garden in Morris. Employees with service durations ranging from five to 55 years attended the event, celebrating their contributions to the hospital.

Among those recognized were Theresa Carnahan and Katherine Laseman, each with 40 years of service. Theresa has dedicated her entire career as a med/surg nurse at Morris Hospital since starting in 1984. Karie Steken, Manager of 2 East, praised her commitment: “Theresa arrives to work early to learn everything she can about her patients before report even starts.”

Katherine Laseman has also served the hospital for four decades in Imaging Services. Jeff Thompson, Manager of Imaging Services, noted Kathy's dedication: “Kathy is a go-getter. She is always the first person to step up and offer help.”

Beth Bomba and Sue Brooks were acknowledged for their 45 years of service. Beth has played various roles in the Emergency Department since joining Morris Hospital as a nurse’s aide. Tony Bucki, Director of Emergency and Trauma Services, commended her: “Beth is the kind of employee who inspires everyone around her to strive for excellence.”

Sue Brooks began working at Morris Hospital in 1979 and later transitioned to Occupational Medicine where she became an expert in the field. Kim Smith, Immediate Care/Occupational Medicine Director, highlighted her impact: “Patients come looking for Sue specifically to take care of them as she always has.”

Deb Button was celebrated for her long-standing commitment to Cardio Diagnostics over 45 years. Jori Christensen, Director of Cardiovascular Services, said: “Deb brings a wealth of knowledge to our department.”

Michelle Stewart and Cindy Tallman have both contributed significantly over their 45-year tenures in the Surgery department. Amy Snyder, Manager of Surgery, Endoscopy and Sterile Processing, described Michelle as having mastered nursing as an art.

Cindy Tallman is known for her supportiveness and mentorship within the department. Her history includes visiting post-breast surgery patients following her own experience as a breast cancer survivor.

The recognition event underscored these individuals' significant contributions toward fulfilling Morris Hospital's mission.
