Morris Hospital has recognized Joanna Mueller, an administrative assistant, as the October Fire Starter of the Month. Known for her problem-solving skills and effective communication, Mueller is described by her colleagues in the Safety/Security and Emergency Management departments as a valuable resource. She has been with Morris Hospital for 13 years.
Jeff Brodbeck, Director of Facilities & Engineering at Morris Hospital, praised Mueller's dedication: “Jo is an incredibly caring person who always takes care of everyone around her. She is dependable, hard working and always willing to lend a helping hand. She has established herself as the ‘go to’ person when there are questions at Shabbona. We are so fortunate to have an employee like Jo working at Morris Hospital.”
Mueller's career in healthcare began as a purchasing agent in the prosthetics department at Hines Veterans Affairs Hospital in Illinois. Her father’s role as Chief of Maintenance influenced her understanding of facility management. After working at Hines VA Hospital and another hospital’s neuro surgical department, she joined Morris Hospital in 2011.
Reflecting on her work at Morris Hospital, Mueller stated: “While my role and department has changed since I first started working at Morris Hospital, I really enjoy working with the different departments I support.” She emphasized that contributing to patient care does not require direct interaction with patients: “There are so many things that have to happen behind the scenes to ensure every patient receives excellent care, and that is why having a great team is so important.”
Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers employs over 1,400 people and is Grundy County's largest employer.
