Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has received an ‘A’ grade in the fall 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, making it one of 35 hospitals in Illinois to achieve this recognition. The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit organization, assigns these grades based on more than 30 measures related to medical errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The grades are updated twice a year and are available for public viewing.
The data used for the fall 2025 safety grade spans from July 2021 through December 2024, depending on the specific quality measure. Among the 109 Illinois hospitals evaluated in Leapfrog’s report, 32% received an A grade, while others received lower marks.
Kimberly Landers, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Morris Hospital, commented on receiving the hospital’s third consecutive A grade: “Every day our clinical and professional teams work to ensure our patient experience and quality of care is the best it can be,” said Landers. “Achieving an A grade from Leapfrog every six months requires a commitment to continuous improvement, as the targets are always moving higher and higher, making it even more difficult to obtain an A each grading period.”
Landers also noted that Morris Hospital closely monitors its quality and safety metrics daily and issues monthly report cards within the organization. These reports are reviewed by the Board of Directors’ Quality Committee.
“The entire senior team and Board of Directors at Morris Hospital is so very pleased with our patient outcomes and quality scores. We are especially proud of our zero hospital acquired central line infections and inpatient Nursing Communication scores, both which recently received national recognition. Morris Hospital is here to improve the health of our community, and we want to ensure we do the right things for our patients every day.”
Morris Hospital serves patients across 28 locations through its main facility—a hospital with 89 beds—and various physician offices throughout multiple communities such as Braidwood, Channahon, Diamond-Coal City, Dwight, Gardner, Marseilles, Mazon, Minooka, Morris itself, Newark, Ottawa, and Seneca. With over 1,900 healthcare professionals involved in its operations—including physicians and volunteers—the hospital offers services like cardiac intervention in a specialized catheterization lab; radiation therapy for cancer; robotic-assisted orthopedic surgery; intensive care; integrated behavioral health within primary care settings; Level II perinatal care; and primary stroke center services.
