Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has announced the opening of a new gastroenterology physician practice located at 151 W. High Street in Morris, Illinois. The practice welcomes Dr. Afreen Hyder, a board-certified gastroenterologist with over two decades of experience.

Dr. Hyder specializes in diagnosing and managing conditions related to the digestive system, such as abdominal pain, heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, irregular bowel movements, and hemorrhoids. "My philosophy of care is simple: be a good listener and really listen to what the patient is saying," said Dr. Hyder. She emphasizes the importance of open communication with patients to enhance their care experience.

Dr. Hyder obtained her medical degree from NTR University – Deccan College of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, India. She completed her internal medicine residency and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Her career spans both public and private healthcare systems across various states including Illinois, Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Notably, she served as a consultant gastroenterologist for Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI. Dr. Hyder is affiliated with professional organizations such as the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
