November 25, 2024, MORRIS, IL - Joliet resident Jessie Fix's commitment to helping others began during junior high when a school assembly featuring the family of a Columbine High School shooting victim inspired her. This early experience led her to pursue a career in healthcare.
For the past year and a half, Fix has served as a Clinic RN at Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Her dedication and teamwork have earned her the title of Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers November Fire Starter of the Month.
Toni Childers, Practice Manager at Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, commended Fix for her significant impact on both patients and staff. Childers noted that Fix consistently prioritizes patient care and provides timely assistance.
"Jessie does an outstanding job getting patients what they need in a very timely matter," said Childers. "This could be as simple as helping a patient out of the building after an injection to helping a patient who needs a blood thinner pre-authorized 5 minutes before the close of the day."
Childers further praised Fix for being respectful, reliable, caring, and maintaining a positive outlook daily. She described Fix as someone who holds the team together and sets high standards in her work.
After graduating from nursing school in 2021, Fix began her career as an Assistant Director of Nursing at an assisted living facility. This role taught her valuable skills in teamwork and leadership which she continues to apply today.
Despite gaining much from this position, Fix chose to return to clinical work to enhance her skills further. She transitioned from working as a med-surg RN at another hospital to joining Morris Hospital Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
"I have come to learn quickly that I love working in orthopedics and working at Morris Hospital," said Fix. "I feel that this role combines everything that I love about nursing and provides me with great learning opportunities."
Fix values the support from her colleagues and appreciates being part of what she describes as "a fantastic team."
Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers employs over 1,400 individuals and is Grundy County's largest employer.
