After 16 years of practice in the Joliet area, Dr. Brian Winkleman, a general and minimally invasive surgeon, has joined the medical staff at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers. Dr. Winkleman will now see patients at the Channahon Healthcare Center of Morris Hospital located at 25259 Reed Street in Channahon and will perform surgeries exclusively at Morris Hospital.
Dr. Winkleman is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery and fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
His specialties include laparoscopic and robotic procedures such as gallbladder removal, hernia repair, small bowel and colon surgery, appendix removal, and excision of skin lesions and soft tissue tumors. Dr. Winkleman also performs upper endoscopy and colonoscopy.
Morris Hospital recently finished a $13.2 million renovation project to upgrade its perioperative services on its main campus at 150 W. High Street in Morris. The improvements include new operating rooms with advanced technology, two endoscopy rooms for gastrointestinal and bronchoscopy procedures, a room for minor procedures, five additional same day surgery rooms for patient care before and after procedures, as well as amenities focused on patients and their families.
