Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers will hold a volunteer recruitment open house on Tuesday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will take place in conference room one on the lower level of the hospital at 150 W. High Street in Morris.

The open house is intended for people interested in volunteering and supporting the community. Attendees can learn about various volunteer opportunities available at Morris Hospital. The hospital’s Volunteer Services program provides flexible schedules and matches roles to each volunteer’s abilities and interests.

“Morris Hospital is committed to the communities we serve, and volunteers are essential to that mission,” said Jamie Mack, Manager of Volunteer Services at Morris Hospital. “Our caring volunteers are a friendly face at the entry, an escort to surgery, a kind ear in the gift shop, a ride to an appointment.”

Currently, there are openings for volunteers in areas such as the gift shop, visitor desk, and surgical waiting room. There is also a need for volunteer drivers and assistants for the Patient Transportation program.

“Our volunteers are skilled individuals with a lifetime of experience to share,” said Mack. “When placing each volunteer in a position, we look for the best way to share their talents with Morris Hospital’s patients and families.”

All new volunteers receive training specific to their roles. Volunteers are given uniforms and identification badges while serving at the hospital. Additional benefits include complimentary flu shots, meals during service shifts, and recognition for hours served.
