The Village of Channahon has secured the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This marks the 20th consecutive year that the village has received this honor.
The accolade was in recognition of Channahon's annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2024. An impartial panel reviewed the report and found that it met the stringent standards required by the program. These standards emphasize a "spirit of full disclosure" that ensures the financial story of the village is communicated clearly, motivating interested parties to engage with the report.
Achieving the Certificate of Achievement is seen as the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, representing a noteworthy achievement for any government and its management.
