Anna Raikes, a certified respiratory care practitioner at Morris Hospital, has been named the Fire Starter of the Month for March. Known for her dedication and compassion, Raikes has been a significant presence in healthcare for 16 years.
Laura Decker, Manager of Critical Care Services at Morris Hospital, described Raikes as "an incredibly compassionate employee who always goes out of her way to help anyone she can." Decker added that Raikes "radiates positivity," which uplifts those around her.
Raikes was inspired by her aunt's work in healthcare and pursued a similar path. She said, “I always knew I wanted to help people; I just wasn’t sure which path I would take to get there.” Her journey included roles such as CNA on 2 South and patient care tech in the Emergency Department before becoming a respiratory assistant.
In her current role, Raikes evaluates and treats patients with breathing difficulties. She also educates patients on managing their respiratory health. Her commitment is evident through 10 nominations for the Fire Starter award. Abbey Owens, an RN at Morris Hospital Emergency Department, called Raikes the “embodiment of a Fire Starter.”
Owens noted that "Anna is always willing to help any employee with any task," highlighting her professionalism and exceptional care. Raikes expressed appreciation for her coworkers and the opportunity to impact patients' lives positively.
