The Illinois Department of Labor has announced a significant amendment to the Illinois Equal Pay Act of 2003. The new Pay Transparency amendment mandates that employers with more than 15 employees must include pay scale and benefit information in their job postings. Additionally, when making an external job posting, these employers are required to inform all current employees about any promotion opportunities within 14 days.

Since the amendments came into effect on January 1, 2025, the Department has received over 250 complaints regarding compliance issues. This highlights the impact and immediate challenges associated with implementing these new requirements.

For further details on this amendment and its implications for both employers and employees, additional resources are available from the Illinois Department of Labor.
