New retirement community development begins in Minooka

Christine Mendez, Secretary | Grundy County Chamber of Commerce

Bill Aeschliman, owner of JB Property Pros, LLC, along with local officials and community members, celebrated the groundbreaking of The Preserve at Heritage Woods in Minooka. This development is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) aimed at providing seamless care transitions for seniors.

The event took place on October 10 near the Heritage Woods of Minooka, a supportive living facility established in 2017. This marks the second phase of a four-phase project that has been underway for over 19 years. Once completed, the community will house approximately 350 residents with various care options.

“Our goal is to create a community where you and your family have peace of mind knowing they can transition into another level of care without having to leave the community,” said Aeschliman.

The next phase involves The Preserve-Duplexes, featuring 46 independent living duplexes for seniors aged 55 and older, set to be completed by 2025. Future plans include about 50 independent senior apartments and a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. By 2027, the project aims to provide comprehensive care within one community.

“It is so exciting to see the next phase of this project officially begin. Once completed, it is going to be such a beautiful, and needed addition to Minooka,” stated Christina Van Yperen, Channahon Minooka Chamber President & CEO.

Residents will have access to all services offered at the assisted living facility and priority access to other amenities on-site. The community will promote an active lifestyle with features like gardening areas, pickleball courts, and plans for a clubhouse and lap pool.
